Goalie Specific workouts

nutritional guidance



Being a goaltender demands extra work in core strength, balance, eye/hand coordination, and one's proprioception.  Don't settle for just a regular old athletic workout. 

We will be using a cross-disciplinary approach to conditioning through the use of goalie-specific training, speed and strength training, boxing, hot yoga and more.  


In addition, goalies will receive modified exercises and training due to the nature of their highly specialized position.  Our workouts have special modifications to reflect goaltender specific training. 
The right diet can provide the extra "edge" all athletes are seeking; diet can improve recovery times, endurance, and performance, and even help to prevent injuries. During two sessions which will include a health-promoting meal, athletes and their parents will learn the basics about optimal nutrition, and about sports-specific dietary adaptations (protein, supplements, and other related issues).

#1:  Speed and Strength Training


Caruso Hockey has partnered with Elite Performance Training and will be the home to all Caruso Hockey athletes.  Coach Anthony Glass and his staff will teach proper lifting techniques along with teaching athletes how to maximize their strength, foot speed and explosive power.  ​​

Directed by Doug Owens, trainer to Ohio's elite athletes (NFL, NHL, NCAA, and more) and owner of Doug Owens Personal Fitness and Boxing.  Coach Owens and Caruso Hockey have developed one of the best athletic enhancement workouts to maximize on ice performance.
  • 60 minutes per session
  • Circuit type training focusing on becoming a better athlete

#3: yoga


NHL, NCAA, and high level athletes have been incorporating yoga into their training programs for the last few years.

There are 5 key physical skills that hockey players need and yoga provides: speed, agility, strength, quickness and power.

Caruso Hockey and their athletes will be performing yoga specifically designed and developed for goaltenders. The instructors offer dynamic yoga postures that make this training very beneficial to an athlete.  Yoga classes will help improve athletic performance!
